Swimming in Lake Bohinj
Lake Bohinj is the largest natural lake in Slovenia and a true paradise for swimmers in summer. The water gradually warms from June — reaching around 18-20 °C by late June, and a pleasant 21-24 °C in July and August. The most popular swimming spots are on the eastern shore near Camp Zlatorog, on the western end near Ukanc, and along the northern shore near Ribčev Laz.
The lake has exceptionally clean water, fed by mountain streams from the Triglav National Park. The entry into the water is gentle and suitable for families with children. From Resman, the lake is just a 5-minute walk.
Kayaking and SUP on the lake
Lake Bohinj is ideal for kayaking and stand-up paddleboarding. On the calm surface of the lake, you can enjoy views of the surrounding mountains and forests. Kayaks and SUP boards are available for rental at several points around the lake — the nearest rental is just a few minutes from Resman.
Morning is the best time to paddle, when the lake is calm and wrapped in morning mist. Courses with certified instructors are also available for beginners.
Hiking trails
The area around Bohinj offers countless hiking trails for all fitness levels — from easy lakeside walks to demanding mountain tours:
- Savica Waterfall — one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Slovenia. A short but steep climb (20 minutes) takes you to the magnificent 78-metre waterfall. 15 minutes by car from Resman.
- Mostnica Gorge — a stunning gorge with pearl-green water, natural pools, and the Devil's Bridge. An easy trail suitable for families. 5 minutes by car from Resman.
- Vogel Cable Car — the cable car takes you up to 1,535 m, where panoramic views of the entire lake and the Julian Alps unfold. Starting point for numerous higher mountain tours.
Cycling routes
Bohinj offers cycling routes for everyone — from peaceful flat paths along the lake to demanding mountain trails. The popular cycling path from Bohinjska Bistrica to Ukanc runs along the lake with stunning views.
At Resman, we offer secure bicycle storage. Bike rental is available nearby, including e-bikes for easier hill climbing.
Resman's terrace
After an active day, relax on our large enclosed terrace. A barbecue for outdoor cooking, a fireplace for pleasant evenings, a ping pong table, a swing, and sun loungers are all at your disposal.
The extensive lawn next to the terrace is perfect for games and relaxation. Children can play freely while parents enjoy the sun loungers with mountain views.
Evening relaxation and wellness
After a full summer day, treat yourself to relaxation in our private wellness area with jacuzzi, Finnish sauna, and infrared sauna. The warm water and steam will ease tired muscles and prepare you for another day of adventure.
The wellness facilities are available by prior arrangement with an additional charge. They are open to both our guests and external visitors — simply get in touch ahead of time to book a slot.
Practical summer information
The best time to visit is from mid-June to mid-September. July and August are the busiest months, so we recommend booking early. June and September offer milder temperatures, fewer crowds, and more favourable prices.
